Several consensus standards released in 2023 will directly impact Healthcare Facilities’ Environment of Care Programs by necessitating increased sampling and testing of controlled environments and critical infrastructure.
New revisions to USP 797 will be effective starting November 1st, 2023 and require sterile compounding facilities to significantly increase their surface sampling and environmental monitoring activities. As part of the new USP 797 revisions, personnel who perform surface sampling must be trained and demonstrate competency.
